Seimone Augustus won the John R. Wooden Award in 2006 as the best player in women’s college basketball, following an incredible season with the Louisiana State University (LSU) Tigers. She became the first woman to win the award twice after winning it in 2005. The 5-10 guard led LSU to a Final Four appearance and an impressive 31-4 record, while showcasing her scoring ability, leadership, and versatility. Augustus averaged 22.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game during her junior season, establishing herself as one of the most dominant players in the nation. Augustus was known for her smooth scoring ability, with a quick first step, deadly jump shot, and ability to finish at the basket. Her offensive skill set made her nearly impossible to defend, and she had the ability to take over games in clutch moments. Throughout her college career, Augustus also earned All-American honors and led her team to back-to-back SEC championships.
