Maya Moore won the John R. Wooden Award in 2011, marking her second time receiving the honor after also winning in 2009. Playing for the University of Connecticut (UConn), Moore was one of the most dominant and decorated players in women’s college basketball history. During her senior season, the 6-foot forward averaged 22.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.9 steals per game, leading UConn to another deep NCAA Tournament run. Moore’s 2011 season capped off an incredible college career in which she helped UConn achieve an NCAA-record 90-game winning streak that spanned multiple seasons. She was known for her versatility, leadership, and ability to take over games, making her the heart of one of the greatest dynasties in college basketball history. Her consistency and excellence earned her numerous awards, including four-time All-American honors and two NCAA national championships (2009, 2010). Winning the Wooden Award twice solidified Moore’s place among the all-time greats.
