Sabrina Ionescu of Oregon was the winner of the 2020 John R. Wooden Award. Sabrina Ionescu becomes the sixth women’s player to win the Wooden Award multiple times, joining Seimone Augustus (’05 and ’06), Candace Parker (’07 and ’08), Maya Moore (’09 and ’11), Brittney Griner (’12 and ’13), and Breanna Stewart (’15 and ’16). She is the first player in NCAA history (male or female) to record 2,000 career points, 1,000 career assists, and 1,000 career rebounds. She is the NCAA all-time leader (men’s or women’s) with 26 triple-doubles, including an NCAA single-season record 8 triple doubles in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. A dynamic 5-11 guard, she was known for her elite passing, scoring, and leadership. She dedicated her season to Kobe Bryant, her mentor, and delivered a legendary triple-double on the day of his memorial. Ionescu was selected first overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty.
